  • What Does it mean to forsake our first love?
    • “First love” refers to devotion to our savior Jesus Christ
    • When we begin to take anything for granted and we regard a relationship as “commonplace” that relationship is in danger
    • The Ephesian Church was concerned with purity and theology; however, they neglected their relationship with the living God
  • The life of one in love with Christ is evident by its “spiritual fruit”
    • Worship of God is barren without a loving relationship with Him
    • When we show love to fellow believers it shows our love of God
    • If love is lacking our worship is “uninspired”

While our works “for the Lord” are important we must always remember that they are not more important that our relationship with Him .

Has our worship become routine (no matter how reverent it may be)? Is our motivation in worship God or something else? (pride, social standing or status, for appearance sake, seeking approval of others, etc)

Have we forsaken our first love? We should remember that when we put God first everything else in our lives will fall into place, though it may not be in the manner we have imagined!
